ORGANIZED GRIME
Bio
Organized Grime is a 4-piece instrumental band from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, making what they call Transcendental Southern Psych-Fi — a live, hand-played sound that lives somewhere between psychedelic rock, dusty hip-hop instrumentals, modern jazz, and the wide, slow gravity of the Deep South. Four humans on a stage, no laptops, no backing tracks. Their fifth release and debut full-length, Beat Tape, is out now.
Built from the rhythm section out, Beat Tape sequences nine tracks across roughly thirty-one minutes — the run-time of a tightly-edited side of vinyl. The record leans into the textures of producer-driven instrumental hip-hop (J Dilla, Bonobo, Khruangbin) while preserving the four-piece chemistry that has made the band a regional festival fixture over the last five years. The result is a record that reads as a producer's tape but was tracked entirely by a working live band.
Latest Release — Beat Tape (LP, 2026)
Released May 15, 2026
The band's debut full-length and fifth release overall. Nine tracks, ~31:33 total runtime, mastered at 24-bit / 96 kHz. Sequenced as a single continuous listen with the cadence of a classic instrumental beat tape: short ideas, fully realized, then gone.
For fans of Bonobo (Black Sands), Khruangbin, J Dilla (Donuts), Floating Points (Crush), and Circles Around the Sun.
